Kat Simons, who had been a prominent voice at Mix 98.1 Richmond in Virginia for over 25 years, has passed away. Friends and colleagues have been sharing heartfelt tributes to honor her memory.
The announcement came from her radio station on Saturday, expressing their deep sorrow and highlighting the significant impact she had on their lives. “It is with profound sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Kat Simons,” they wrote on Facebook. “We feel empty inside because of this loss; it seems impossible to fill.”
Kat was remembered not just as a radio host, but as a “cherished friend and a comforting presence,” known for her dedication to her job, listeners, coworkers, and sponsors. “Kat’s life was a symphony of kindness and dedication, played out over the airwaves of Virginia radio,” the station’s tribute continued.

Born in Elkins, West Virginia, Kat grew up on a farm, which nurtured her deep love for animals. She was a passionate advocate for animal rights and gained fame for her radio segment, Pet of the Day.
