Drake is a proud father to Adonis, but his road to fatherhood wasn’t the smoothest. In 2017, a woman who reportedly spent time with Drake following his split from Jennifer Lopez came forward with claims that she was pregnant with his child.

Sophie Brussaux alleged that she was three and a half months pregnant and had text messages to support her assertions. She enlisted high-profile New York City attorney Raoul Felder to pursue legal steps regarding paternity and child support.

Sophie believed the conception occurred on January 20 or 21, 2017 and a photo of the two together at a Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam, dated January 24, surfaced. In response, Drake reportedly denied the allegations.

However, his representative stated that if the child was proven to be his, the rapper would take full responsibility. Adonis was born on October 11, 2017, in California. In 2018, reports surfaced that Drake had been providing financial support to Sophie, who at the time was still rumored to be the mother of his child.

Sources revealed that the rapper had been assisting Sophie both during her pregnancy and after the child’s birth to ensure her well-being. While Drake reportedly planned to take a DNA test to confirm paternity, he acknowledged the possibility that the child might be his.

Interestingly, insiders connected to his album production claimed that Drake had intended to disclose the news of his son in an upcoming project. However, with the information already making headlines, it was suggested that he would need to adjust his plans for the album’s release.

With these words, Drake confirmed that Adonis is his son. He later opened up about fatherhood on LeBron James’ unscripted HBO series, “The Shop,” saying, “I’m just excited.” He shared that he draws inspiration to be a great father from lessons learned through his father and mother.
